A standard reference can join records
An LEI links a legal entity to a standard public reference. It can help reconcile the names on a contract, an invoice and a payment instruction. Matching identity across datasets is a useful foundation for analysis.
GLEIF is an external standards and data source. Links on this site support research; they do not establish a WAB partnership, integration or certification.
Accounting relationships have a specific meaning
Level 2 relationship data concerns direct and ultimate accounting-consolidating parents, subject to relevant exceptions. It should be read within that scope. It is not a complete list of beneficial owners, shareholders or controllers.
An institution’s due diligence should retain the official and customer evidence relevant to ownership and control. An external identifier organises that record; it does not settle every due-diligence question.
A role credential and a bank mandate
vLEI provides a digitally verifiable context linking an organisation with a person and role. WAB’s BankID and RTX design also considers the person, organisation and scope of authority. The concepts address related questions while remaining distinct systems.
Issuer qualification, verification, revocation and legal acceptance require defined implementations. No vLEI issuer status or deployed BankID/RTX system is established by the supplied WAB presentations.
A record needs a route to correction
A reference date explains when data was checked. Source and status explain what the record establishes. Consistency, validity, currency and provenance help users assess quality. Correction processes are part of maintaining trust in a dataset.
When external and internal records are joined, their origins should remain visible. A current public entity name, a customer’s ownership declaration and an internal credit approval have different sources and responsibilities.
Identity connects evidence; it does not certify it
An entity identifier can link financial and sustainability records to the same organisation. Each sustainability measure still needs its method, unit, period, boundary and evidence. The identifier does not create an ESG score or assurance.
The useful outcome is a connected, inspectable record. That can support agricultural finance and cross-border trade without claiming automatic compliance or complete transparency.
